Planet Coaster Gets Major Update Before Release

Planet Coaster Gets Major Update Before Release

Planet Coaster is just days away from lunch, and developer Frontier Developments released a new beta update that expands park sizes to two and half times larger than they were previously.

Included in the patch are new rides, entertainers, hats and balloons.

“Planet Coaster is an important release for us, not just because we’re self-publishing the games that we love, but also because of the incredible community we have had the pleasure of being a part of over the past few months, who are equally passionate about the game, give us constant inspiration and feedback, and have helped us shape the game along the way,” Frontier wrote. “Every supportive post, share of your great content and kind word really does help spur the team on and is a vital part of the development of Planet Coaster.”

Planet Coaster Beta Update 4 Patch Notes

  • New rides: Rolling River, Invincible, Chair-O-Plane: These three new attractions are the perfect addition to your parks; you can add the stunning new Rolling River water ride, create a new epic coaster with the Invincible, or add a more gentle touch with the Chair-O-Plane! How exciting!
  • BALLOONS!! The latest addition to the Planet Coaster shops is an all-time favourite, balloon shop Loony Blooons! We can’t wait to see your guests walking around with their colourful souvenirs. And even better, each balloon is on a string!
  • More Shop news: Themed hats, mayonnaise for Monsieur Frites. We have also added a variety of hats to be purchased in the Hat Shops, themed to Western, Sci-fi, and Fantasy; so your guests will have loads more options for funky headwear! Lastly, your guests can now choose to top their fries with… mayonnaise (YES, HOLLAND REPRESENT!), to give them the best of flavours at Monsieur Frites shops.
  • Two new entertainers! You’ve already had some sneak previews of the two last additions to the park staff, but we’re so happy they are finally ready to join the family: give a warm welcome to Miss Elly, our Western hot shot patrolling the grounds, and Tiki Chicken, the fiery, community-created flavour maker.
  • Help System: to… help!
  • Scenario balancing to Pirate Battles and Monolith. Thanks to your valuable feedback over the past few days of beta, we have made some balancing changes to the two Beta Scenarios even further; try your hand at them again and see if you can still pass them both with three stars!
  • UI flow improvements: The panel in the info panel and park management will now remember the last tab you were on; so you will not have to search for your active tabs again.
  • More lights hooked up to Coaster Trigger system. Get the most of triggered events with even more lighting options to spruce up your coaster ride!
  • VIP Staff Pass now supports facial hair: Get all the beards going this Movember!
  • Polish, QOL and Balancing – more of this
  • More optimisations: the team has been working hard over the last few weeks to get framerate up even further for a smooth experience, and today’s update has the latest fruits of their labours.
  • Stability and compatibility improvements
  • Boids: Flocking Pigeons!
  • And last but not least, by popular demand, your PARK AREA IS NOW OVER 2.5 TIMES BIGGER THAN BEFORE! As a result of the team’s hard work on optimisations, they have increased your park sizes. You’ll have even more space to put down rides, build crazy coasters, and craft intricate landscapes your guests will absolutely love!
Planet Coaster Takes The Lead From Roller Coaster Tycoon

Planet Coaster Takes The Lead From Roller Coaster Tycoon

Frontier Developments is gearing up for the much anticipated released of Planet Coaster in three days. The game is shaping up to be every roller coaster sim fan dreams of what Roller Coaster Tycoon World should have been.

Roller Coaster Tycoon relaunch has received a lot of negative feedback, with Steam users giving it a 5 out of 10 rating. The game was released prematurely which led to the displeasure of fans from the iconic franchise.

Frontier has done a great job in slowly bringing along Planet Coaster. Players can focus on park design and entrepreneurial skills. The new beta which was released last week allowed players to handle the finance side of their parks such as ticket prices and not paying your employees.

Check out the video below for a look at a completed Planet Coaster park.

Planet Coaster Guests Will Have Real Behavior

Planet Coaster Guests Will Have Real Behavior

Frontier has released a new developer diary titled “Guest Brains”. In the video it reveals that the studio is obsessed with attention to detail. It explains how guests navigate and interact with the parks.

Guests will now be aware of their surroundings, and make decisions such as to catch a ride on in-park transportation if the ride is too far or go by foot. Details such as how tired the guest are, hunger level and their bladder control will factor into their behavior.

Planet Coaster is shaping up to be the most sophisticated theme park simulator we have ever seen. The game is scheduled to release on November 17.

Planet Coaster Moving to Steam

Planet Coaster Moving to Steam

Frontier has received positive responses from players after Alpha 2 was released of Planet Coaster back in May.

We have some new news on the successor to the RollerCoaster Tycoon series. Frontier sent an email to fans to notify them that a Steam version is coming soon. Those who purchased the alpha version or pre-ordered the game will get a Steam key in the upcoming weeks.

The next Alpha version of Planet Coaster will require all users to play through Steam according to an FAQ on their website.

“Planet Coaster Alpha 3 will build on Steam Workshop features and so requires access to Steam to play. You will not be able to use the Frontier Launchpad to play Planet Coaster from Alpha 3 onwards”

Planet Coaster Alpha 3 is scheduled for release on August 23.

Planet Coaster Sales Reach Nearly $2 Million

Planet Coaster Sales Reach Nearly $2 Million

Planet Coaster has yet to release, however according to Frontier Developments, the theme park builder has generated nearly $2 million in pre orders.

This is a very good sign for the future of this new franchise. With pre-sales of Planet Coaster reaching such a high number this early in the game, it gives Frontier the confidence that this game can fill the void left by the RollerCoaster Tycoon series.

“The Board is encouraged by the reception to the first Alpha build of Planet Coaster, the Group’s second self-published franchise. Released on schedule on 22 March 2016, the Alpha 1 build contained fundamental game systems including modular scenery, pathing and an early version of the coaster building system. Feedback to date has been very positive, with a total of over £1 million in customer receipts for the Alpha version and pre-orders. The Group has also announced the date of the Alpha 2 release of 24 May 2016.”

How to Build Roller Coasters in Alpha Version

How to Build Roller Coasters in Alpha Version

Frontier Development released the first Alpha version of Planet Coaster on March 22. Those looking to construct their first roller coaster will notice the Coasters section in the build menu is grayed out. This was hidden by Frontier since the coasters are under heavy construction, with a lot of bugs to work out. We did discover a way to unlock the Coaster build section and we will show you how to access the hidden option.

The first step is to start the game and select a park of your choice. In this Planet Coaster tutorial we selected the sandbox mode to build our own park from scratch. Once the park has been selected, open up the Rides menu and click the magnifying glass icon. This action pops up a new window, game’s search option, which is a good tool for finding the exact things you want.

Once the search menu has appeared, click on the search box and type in “underconstruction”. This will unlock the Coasters option, which will appear on the bottom menu bar. Now you have the ability to build from one of the two different types of coaster tracks.

Planet Coaster Early Bird Alpha Released

Planet Coaster Early Bird Alpha Released

Frontier’s Planet Coaster won’t be released until the end of the year, but it launch its first alpha build on March 22, 2016.

The alpha version is very limited in scope, and a pretty rough around the edges, but it gives you an idea of how the game will play.

To gain access to Planet Coaster alpha build you will have to purchase the Early Bird version of the game.

This is one of the three stages Frontier has planned for the game. The first alpha version will focus on Modular building and paths. The roller coaster creation feature has been hidden due to it not nearly being complete, however Frontier did add a way to unlock this feature.

“To access coaster building, open a map and select the ‘Rides’, ‘Scenery’ or ‘Buildings’ tab, then select the ‘Search’ option (a magnifying glass) and enter the code ‘underconstruction’ (all one word in lower case) to enable the coaster construction tab.”

Planet Coaster to Have Modular Construction

Planet Coaster to Have Modular Construction

Frontier Development revealed in a diary that their upcoming theme park sim, Planet Coaster, will have a modular building system.

The developers feel this will give players a greater depth of creative control when constructing rides and attractions.

Having the ability to control and lay each piece of the track allows the players to have their rides become a part of the environment. You will be able to construct roller coasters through tunnel.

Planet Coaster will also allow players to share their creations with other members.
