Planet Coaster to Feature Same-Sex Couples

Planet Coaster to Feature Same-Sex Couples

The next installment of the Roller Coaster Tycoon, Planet Coaster, will feature LGBT families according to a preview of the game. Frontier Developments has yet to release an official statement.

In a recent clip of the game, it shows a security guard chasing down a graffiti artist. While he is shown tracking the artist, a gay male couple holding hands can be seen in the clip.

If this remains in the final version of Planet Coaster, it would become the first construction/management simulation game to feature gay characters.

Responses on reddit has been positive.

“This is the kind of nonchalant representation that makes me so damn happy. It’s just there. No big deal. And yet, even so, it means a lot to have it there,” said one member.

Another wrote, “It’s little things like this that shows you that the culture is changing and it makes me so damn happy.”

Planet Coaster to Have Modular Construction

Planet Coaster to Have Modular Construction

Frontier Development revealed in a diary that their upcoming theme park sim, Planet Coaster, will have a modular building system.

The developers feel this will give players a greater depth of creative control when constructing rides and attractions.

Having the ability to control and lay each piece of the track allows the players to have their rides become a part of the environment. You will be able to construct roller coasters through tunnel.

Planet Coaster will also allow players to share their creations with other members.

Planet Coaster Announced by RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Developer

Frontier’s founder David Braben, announced in June 2015 that their next title will be a sort of a RollerCoaster Tycoon reboot, Planet Coaster.

According to David, the studio has wanted to make a roller coaster sandbox games for more than a decade. The game was originally named Coaster Park Tycoon, but the company decided to rename it to Planet Coaster to differentiate itself from the popular RollerCoaster Tycoon series. “The whole ‘tycoon’ thing—we looked at it a lot, and we did plan and consider that for quite a while, and decided actually it comes with too much baggage. There were too many tycoon games that weren’t very good,” said Braben.

Frontier Developments was the company who produced RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, so they have a great deal of expertise in this market.
